John Gerber spent twenty years gathering what others let slip away, piece by piece, from the villages and jungles of Guam. A shelf in the house became a room, and the room became a museum.
When he passed, his family made a choice. Keep the doors open, and keep it his. Volunteers and veterans come through most weeks to help, and much of the labelling is still in his handwriting.
Guam sat at the center of the Pacific War, and most of that story still lives here in objects, in place names, and in families. We keep it where young people can stand next to it, ask questions, and carry the story forward.
History you can stand next to, not just read about.
